The Science Association of
Pakistan (SAP) is organizing its Third
Science Olympiad for grade IV
& VIII on
This Olympiad is part of our
continual efforts that we (science teachers) are investing to make teaching and
learning of science as a rejoicing and rewarding experience for both students
and teachers. During the event, the student will get an opportunities to participate
and compete in various science activities such as puzzles, poster competition, problem
solving, and construction. The winners would be awarded with shields and certificates
and all participants would be provided with certificates of participation.
SAP is continuously putting
its efforts to improve science teaching strategies, which will help the
teachers in developing scientific attitude in their students. This year, we have
planned to conduct a workshop for teachers, as a part of SAP Science
Olympiad.

registration form and send it along with Fee (Cash or Cheque) in the name of AKU-IED
to Mr. Farhan Jiwani at PTAN Office

Registration fee for each grade (Either Class IV or
VIII) is Rs. 500/-,
(Covering 3 Students & 1 Teacher).
·
Registration fee for both grades (both Class IV &
VIII) is Rs. 1,000/-,
(Covering 6 Students & 2
Teachers).
·
Registration fee for each additional teacher for
either class IV or VIII is Rs. 200/-.
·
The
Olympiad will be held on October 9, 2004.
·
Each Institute / School is invited to send 03
students from each class IV & VIII with
one of their Science teacher.
·
A jury will decide winners, and its decision
will be final.
·
Entry in the Olympiad is open to all. All the
entries will be entertained on first come first serve basis.
·

There are three levels of competition. Each
team is required to compete for all three levels. Level one is a puzzle round.
Level two is problem solving, & Level three is construction. It’s
Compulsory to participate in all three rounds.

Accompanying science teacher has to attend
SAP science workshop.

It’s mandatory to
participate in all three categories; some more information about each category
is given below:
1. Puzzles
Puzzles will be given for testing the students’ scientific knowledge.

2. Problem Solving
Problem solving is an investigative approach to learning. It requires
students to use a variety of skills to acquire results.
In this category, a problem or situation along with material will be
given. The students will be required to solve the problem by choosing the
appropriate method and material.

Selection of the appropriate material and scientific solution.

Time management
·
Team work
3. Construction
The students will construct a working model by using the appropriate
material from the material given.

Application of the appropriate scientific concepts.

Functioning of the model appropriately.
